In 1997, FHS installed the "Walk of Fame". The idea was presented at an annual CADA convention. Activities Director, Howard Zinn, had the idea of building a brick walkway where alumni and students and businesses could have their names engraved - creating a heritage as well as some funds for the school. Mr Zinn has personally installed every single plaque himself.
Eleven yeras later, the Walk of Fame is almost completely filled. "My goal before I retire is to complete the project started in 1997. Approximately 325 'pavers' remain to be purchased. Of the original 1134, 784 have been sold and the school has raised approximately $19,600. This is an awesome fundraiser and all who have participated have 'left their mark'." |

The John M. Nelson Conservancy of Camp Nelson,CA., has had great success with our Memorial Walk as a fund raiser. The community has responded by honoring living people as well as memorials.
The walk adds a point of interest to our grounds. Leave Your Mark! has been consistently cooperative and helpful. |

Azalea Garden, a faith ministry of Paracletia, Inc, was established to help individuals and families move through their crises of early pregnancy loss toward re-establishing life without their baby. Personal growth can result from the parent working at becoming whole again and beginning to believe God really is a God of love. Louisiana State University develped and constructed Azalea Garden in Prairieville, LA, as a service project. The peaceful garden offers individuals who have experienced the grief of a lost baby in the first 20 weeks of pregnancy a safe and comforting place to remember the child they cannot hold. Individualized spiritual counseling is provided by Rev. Cathy Arends.
Surrounding the calm reflection pond are brick pavers with bronze plaques, engraved by Leave Your Mark, commemorating the tiny lives. The bricks may be ordered with a tax deductible donation of $25 or more. Remembering Love, a public memorial service of acknowledgement and honor, is held by Rev. Arends every spring at Azalea Garden in Prairieville, LA. Families and single parents from across the Gulf Coast have participated in the development of the memorial garden by ordering plaques. Leave Your Mark has been a wonderful company to work with through the years.
"Lakeisha said, “The decision to make a memory for my baby didn’t come easily. Many of us that have a miscarriage are made to feel as though we shouldn’t have these sweet memories. Our priest tells us our baby is in heaven with God and our doctor tells us to get pregnant again. No one cares that MY BABY DIED! By putting a plaque with her name of it in Azalea Gardens, I have a place to go...a place to bring my living children...a place to honor my child. ” |
